What is Monarch Community Outreach (MCO)?
Monarch Community Outreach (MCO) in a Non-Profit Organization associated with Monarch Mountain that provides aid and service to our community.
It is our goal to provide help to local organizations that need assistance, whether by volunteering man hours or donating funds. We welcome the participation of all Monarch employees, as well as anyone in the community, so that we can provide aid and service to as many people as we can.

How Can You Help?
Donate to MCO with easy and convenient payroll deductions. For employees, simply fill out a Payroll Deduction form (minimum $1.00 please!) and the rest is taken care of for you. Community members can contact one of the MCO Board Members to make contributions. Keep in mind this donation is tax deductible since MCO is qualified as a 501c3 organization under the Internal Revenue Service code. (Please check with your tax advisor about all tax matters.)
Attend MCO’s monthly Board of Directors meeting to provide input and learn what is going on.
Volunteer – at fundraising events, special events such as our food drives, organize a team to participate in a Walk or Race, or bring a new idea!
Become a Board Member. Being a member of the Board of Directors requires attending the monthly Board Meetings on a regular basis. If you are interested, please attend the next meeting and let us know you would like to be considered for Board Membership.

Monarch Community Outreach – Areas of Focus
1. People in Need: children, the disabled, elderly and underprivileged. Organizations/individuals supported include:
The Grainery, La Puente, Caring & Sharing, Alliance Against Domestic Abuse, Elizabeth Rothwell Fund, Star Point, Farm to Table Project, Neighbor to Neighbor, Chaffee County Mentors, America’s Second Harvest, Unicef-Tsunami Relief, Steve Kenney
2. Health Issues: primarily local health issues. Organizations supported include:
Angel of Shavano Hospice, Salida Aids Walk, Salida Hospital Foundation, Miles for Smiles Dental Program, Chaffee County Mammography Fund
3. Community Improvement: assisting the community in areas of need. Organizations supported include:
Habitat for Humanity, Salida Museum, Spotlight on the Held, Salida Parks & Open Space Trails-Hutchinson Ranch , Calliope, Roots of the Rockies Children’s Programs, Boys and Girls Club
4. Environment/Wildlife: contributing to a healthier environment, advocating for lessening global warming, and protecting wildlife. Organizations supported include:

5. Education: Helping assist those in need of education as well as supporting educational programs. Organizations supported include:
Crestone Youth Plaza, Crest Children’s Academy, Buena Vista High School (score board), Chaffee County 4-H Club, Salida High School Library, Longfellow Parents Assoc (art supplies), Salida High School Swim Team
6. Animals: providing assistance for animals in need. Organizations supported include:
Ark-Valley Humane Society
7. Other: providing aid and services to our community. Organizations/individuals supported include:
