With the early snowfall and the Thanksgiving weekend storm, we were able to open the Breezeway Lift on Sunday. It’s not every season that we can get this lift open during the month of November. A majority of the slopes have a southern aspect and oftentimes, it takes until around mid-December to have enough snow coverage to get this lift open.

It’s always an exciting operational goal as this lift leads to a lot of great things. The inbounds trails, glades, and bowls are high quality skiing/riding. The lift also accesses the Never Summer Freestyle Terrain for those who dig the park scene.

Pushing out beyond the top station, this lift leads to our 130 acres of hike-to skiing & riding in Mirkwood and the 1635 acres of permitted Monarch Cat Skiing terrain. Getting this lift open allows Patrol and our Guides to access projects easier and allows more streamlined avalanche mitigation efforts in getting this terrain open. The goods are on the way.

Monarch Mountain is an equal opportunity provider and operates under a special use permit with the Pike San Isabel National Forest.
