Hauling Timber

The timber decks from our cutting operations in May were finally hauled away this week. Since we conducted the harvesting efforts in the late spring with a deep snowpack, we had to wait months for the snow to melt before we could haul these away. The decked timber acted as an insulating blanket and retained the snow underneath them long after the surrounding areas had melted off.

We utilized an operator with a truck & pup set-up. These trucks and trailers are designed to haul cut to length timber (CTL). As described in an earlier post, the timber was cut to 18′ lengths by a harvester/processor and hauled to the deck site by a forwarder. All of these specialized machines are designed to work together in CTL timber operations.
