Today is our COSMIC Race the Divide. This is a Ski Mountaineering Race or “SkiMo”.

SkiMo (short for “ski mountaineering”), is the sport of ascending a mountain or course on “skinned” skis (occasionally carrying them) and blazing back down. Its roots are in long-distance uphill ski-travel tradition known as alpine touring (AT) or randonee.

The race starts at 7:00am and includes multiple laps that add up to 4000′ of uphill skinning & boot packing before racing back down on lightweight gear. Fastest man or woman wins. These people are animals!
