Tonight is our New Year’s Eve torchlight parade and fireworks show. We have 140 spots open for the public to participate in the torchlight parade. Anyone interested in joining must show up in person at Monarch Mountain on December 31st to sign up. Sign up begins at 8:30am at the guest service desk and participants must sign a waiver. Minimum age to participate is 7 years old and children ages 7-12 must be accompanied by an adult. Guests must be able to comfortably ski/ride an intermediate (Blue) trail. The show begins right around sunset (5:00pm-5:30pm).

We have been working with the same fireworks company for more than thirty years! It also takes several Monarch departments to pull this off. The ticket sales staff coordinates waiver signing and commemorative ticket dispersal. The Children Center staff host activities for kids in the Gunbarrel Cafeteria. Food and Beverage host a music event in the Pioneer Room and run the Sidewinder and Java Stop later than usual for our guests. Our slope maintenance crew splits their night shift so that they can come in to operate the cat and trailer with the fireworks along with a passenger cat for the fireworks crew. Lift Maintenance and Lift Operations stay late to run the Tumbelina Lift for the torchlight parade. Ski Patrol maintains medical staff on the clock in case they are needed. Event Staff lead the torchlight parade. Base Services coordinate the torch disposal.

Happy New Year! Enjoy the show.
