The teams from Skytrac, Timberline Helicopters, and Monarch Mountain worked a solid day this week flying in the concrete for the tower foundations. It took nine concrete trucks arriving at Monarch to fill each bucket one at a time. From the fill station, the buckets were then flown out to the backside of the mountain. Due to our high elevation here along the Continental Divide, the bird could fly just under a yard and a half of concrete at a time with each load of this material weighing around 5000 pounds. It took about seventy turns (out and back) with the helicopter to get all the concrete to each tower along the lift line. Next steps along the lift line are to strip the forms, backfill the concrete, and fly the towers into place. Progress!
