Making the Grade

Lowry Contracting has reached the bottom of No Name Basin with the construction of our service road.  This team now turns to grading the bottom terminal area.  This area will include the return terminal for the lift, operator house, RFID gates, lift mazes, vault toilets, a warming hut, and ingress/egress for skies/riders.  In order to accommodate all of these critical items, the project design includes a significant grading project.  This involves cutting down the grade below tower three, down beyond the return bullwheel, and filling the slopes below in order to create a mostly flat area of about an acre in size.  The original grade where the return terminal will be constructed is shown in this photo next to BL.  Anyone who knows how tall BL is understands that this is a good sized cut!  This work is done in small “lifts” where material is pushed out and compacted one layer at a time.  Little by little this area grows in size and creates this very important area.  See you at the bottom!
