Our Lift Maintenance team has finished up installing restraint bars on the Panorama Lift chairs (carriers). There are one hundred and thirty two carriers on the Pano lift and we now have four aerial lifts that feature these bars. These lifts include Panorama, Pioneer, Tomichi, and Tumbelina. On days when all our lifts are operating this winter, every lift served trail is accessible via a lift that features carriers with a restraint bar (this involves using the Pioneer Lift to access the Frontside Trails and the Tomichi Lift to access No Name Basin and/or the Breezeway Terrain).
While restraint bars may be reassuring to many, the most important lift safety strategy is to always follow the direction of “Your Responsibility Code” and “The Colorado Ski Safety Act”. These important guidelines and legal responsibilities are of paramount importance for every lift user and include the following details.
Colorado Ski Safety Act:
33-44-105. Duties of passengers.
(1) No passenger shall board a passenger tramway if he does not have sufficient physical dexterity, ability, and knowledge to negotiate or use such facility safely or until such passenger has asked for and received information sufficient to enable him to use the equipment safely. A passenger is required to follow any written or verbal instructions that are given to him regarding the use of the passenger tramway.
Your Responsibility Code:
You must know how and be able to load, ride and unload lifts safely. If you need assistance, ask the lift attendant.
Other resources for additional information about lift safety are available on the Monarch Mountain website and the NSAA website.
