Regional Leadership Team

We recently hosted the USFS Region 2 Leadership Team at Monarch Mountain.  Region 2 includes forests and grasslands in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wyoming.  Representatives within the group included Regional Foresters, Deputy Regional Foresters, Forest Supervisors, Forest Deputy Supervisors, the Mountain Resort Program Manager, District Rangers, and other key USFS personnel.

As a ski area that is located entirely on USFS lands and operates under a Special Use Permit, we value our partnership with the USFS and rely on each other to navigate each season and project.  Recreation on USFS lands is obviously very important to all of us at Monarch Mountain, within our mountain communities, and is a key driver of our economy here in the Rocky Mountains.

We were able to discuss with the group about Monarch’s significant place in Colorado’s ski history and provided a thorough status update on the No Name Basin project.  As a group, we then made our way up onto the mountain and toured the project in depth.  The team was impressed with the project and was able to recognize how big this will be for Monarch Mountain and all of us that call it our home mountain.
