The Ricochet terrain park is located along the Gunbarrel Ridge between the Drifter and North Forty trails. This terrain park was one of our original parks and was in operation in the early 2000’s before closing in 2008. At this point in history, the trail was renamed “Liberty” and designated as an “Easiest” trail with a green circle for the next 15+ seasons That all changed this season when Jesse and his Park Crew brought Ricochet back to life as a spot for intermediate and advanced park users.
The north facing aspect of this park provides additional snow retention, the ability to open earlier in the season, and for the crew to build bigger features and ramps with Monarch’s all-natural snow. The terrain on the Garfield side of the mountain also offers some additional protection from wind closures which are more common on the Breezeway Lift. When Breeze closes due to high winds, it also results in the Steel City terrain park shutting down leaving intermediate and advanced park users with just the Tilt beginner park. The Ricochet terrain park will feature intermediate and advanced size boxes, rails, hits, jumps, berms and maybe even a mini pipe As if that wasn’t enough, all of our parks are once again open seven days a week. Enjoy!
