An intense band of snow moved in yesterday afternoon blanketing the mountain in a sea of white this morning. The groomed out trails and the soft stashes are all skiing excellent this morning. We should have ourselves a great couple of days riding out this fresh snow. Ski you soon!
It’s one of the best at Monarch. The original location of our first aerial lift. A classic fixed-grip/double chair ride up the mountain. Easy access to the Uppers pod of trails for the adventurous spirit. The choice of frontside or backside greens for the newer skiers & riders. Everything in between for everybody else. Whatever you are looking for, Garfield…
It has really been a great string of days up here. We opened on Wednesday with excellent conditions and a solid amount of the mountain open. Things have only improved since then with the Fri/Sat storm. We opened additional terrain and a critical lift that helps us continue to make strides elsewhere. On top of all of those accomplishments, there…
Things just keep getting better! With an additional 5″ of snow in the last 24hrs and a lot of hard work from the Mtn Ops team, we were able to open the Breezeway Lift today. Terrain openings included three intermediate trails (Little Mo, Lower Hall’s Alley, Ramble On) and three advanced trails (B’s Bash, Geno’s Meadow, Upper Hall’s Alley). Tilt,…
Once we had the lifts spinning and our core list of opening trails were dialed in, the ski patrol crew was quick to add more to the mix. The team worked diligently to open several other advanced trails that they had prepped earlier in the week. With a couple of final touches, the Patrol team was able to open an…
It’s official. We are open for the 2023-24 ski season. Last weekend’s storm was a game changer and transformed Monarch Mountain into a full-on winter landscape. We were able to open four lifts and thirty-two trails. No ribbon of (you know what) at Monarch. As I said in a recent post, all natural is worth the wait. Enjoy!
I was able to get out for my first chairlift rides of the season today. I spun a few laps on Pioneer and Panorama to check on snow conditions and to see how our grooming and opening efforts were coming along. The team is absolutely crushing it and the mountain looks incredible. We are in for a very special opening…
The Mountain Ops team has been working diligently to get the mountain ready. We have snowcats out track-packing, pushing piles, and grooming slopes. The snow removal team is harvesting huge piles from the lot that are used for building up areas around the lodge and bottom of the ski lifts. The patrol crew is stringing boundary rope, placing pads, stocking…
This is just what we needed. This storm is coming through in a big way with 25″ of snow so far with more on the way. With this significant storm’s arrival, we are happy to announce that we will be opening the mountain for the 2023-24 winter season on Wednesday-December 6th. Our VP of Guest Services sent me this photo…
We will be closing all public uphill access on Saturday-December 2nd until further notice to allow our Slope Maintenance team free reign of the base area and mountain with their machines. This closure is approved by the USFS and is included in our annual operational plan. This will allow our team to prep the mountain while ensuring public and staff…
