Another nice October storm rolled through over the last 24 hours. This one really helped to show the thinning work completed adjacent to the “Uppers” ski trails. The glades adjacent to Upper Christmas Tree, Upper No Name, Lobo, Kanonen, etc. are looking pretty sweet with some snow on the slopes. Can’t wait to ski these glades!
Over the last few seasons, we have seen a significant increase in uphill travel here at the ski area. For many, it is more about the up than the down! We had another small round of Helicopter work today up here on the mountain. Xcel Energy contracted with a crew to fly in a replacement pole for the Whitepine power line. Here is a view from above looking over the expanded Paradise Lot. You can really see the scale of the improvement from this perspective with the main lot in view for comparison. The Paradise Lot basically doubled in size going from approximately 1.81 acres to 3.66. As mentioned earlier, this should really help reduce those pinch points on peak days…
While we only had a dusting on the board the other day, we now have a light blanket of snow on the mountain. While most of this won’t stick around, it sure didn’t take long to get another reminder that winter is on the way.
