The crew from Skytrac has constructed the tower heads for the new Tomichi Lift. They are sitting up in the Paradise Lot awaiting one more day of flying later this month. Each tower will be flown out to its concrete foundation along the lift line. Immediately afterwards, the individual tower heads will be airlifted from the lot and attached to its tower.
The tower heads include the lifting frame, the cross arm, the sheave assemblies, the support assembly, along with the tower walkway and safety railing. The towers vary in height based on the native slope angle of the ground surface and the designed lift profile. Each tower head can vary in its construction based on engineering calculations and how many sheaves are required for each section of the lift line. There are some towers that will have support sheaves where the haul rope will pass on top of the sheave train. There are a few others that are known as compression assemblies, where the haul rope passes underneath the sheave train as the haul rope transitions to a steeper part of the lift line.
With each passing phase of the project, it becomes a bit more real to think about making laps in NNB and grabbing a ride up on the new lift. We are beyond excited to see this all come together.
