There is an amazing complex of wetlands in No Name Basin with the majority of these located within the tree islands or bordering trail edges. The trail network and our project implementation plan were designed to work around these riparian areas while preserving their ecological function and special character. This included avoiding these zones all together with trail design and layout, cutting and skidding trees on snow, along with helicopter removal of timber from these zones. We have several incredible wetland areas on the front side of the mountain as well. It’s always impressive each summer to see how much water continues to flow through these zones long after the snow has melted away. They are unique places and always provide a nice spot to stop and enjoy the cool shade, wildflowers, and running water.
