For skiers and boarders with a competitive edge! Team Monarch Competitive Development is for intermediate to advanced athletes seeking to challenge themselves and compete with a focus on Freeride competition. IFSA certified coaches will challenge athletes to reach their athletic potential by developing independence and skiing and riding skills focused on the competition fundamentals of the International Freeride Ski and Snowboard Association.
Each training day includes a hike to reach challenging terrain to advance skills and tactics towards ultimately representing Monarch as a member of the Freeride Team. Athletes are expected to participate in on-mountain mock comps, Town Challenge, Cooper Cup Races, and are strongly encouraged to attend one IFSA Regional level 2* IFSA event.
Prior to joining the Competitive Development program participants must have completed a minimum of one season in the Adventurers or Intro to Comp program, or similar offering from another area and be comfortable skiing or riding High Anxiety at Monarch Mountain. Ability levels will be assessed during the first session. Participants who do not meet the ability requirements will be given the opportunity to join the Adventurers program.
