It was a pretty sweet April Fool’s Day with 3″ of fresh snow this morning. We had a surprisingly beautiful day and it finally started snowing again in the late afternoon. Tomorrow could be a sneaky good day…I’m not kidding.
Another storm is on the horizon with a return to winter on the way. It’s looking like we will have some overnight snow along with a few more rounds on Monday and Monday night. I love this time of year when you can experience all kinds of weather during the week, during the day, and even by the hour.
Monarch is keeping an eye on the No Name terrain expansion as the USFS review process continues. We are hopeful that they will issue the final Decision Notice to approve the project prior to the snow melting so that work can begin in earnest this summer. It’s been quite a week of snow with 28″ in the last seven days. The mountain is still skiing great and it looks like we have a bit of snow in the forecast this weekend and into early next week. With the season winding down in April, be sure to get up here to take advantage of these fantastic conditions.

We have seen some warm afternoons this week with the first taste of spring skiing and corn snow. It may be a short-lived event…
It was just about perfect today.
It was a mixed bag today. Frozen mist on my windshield driving up in the dark. Low fog hanging over the mountain with continued upslope flow. Some good snowfall for several hours that was then followed by breaking clouds and the sun popping through. The skiing was very good and the wild effects of the storm from a few days…
Today was a much more reasonable weather day. We reported 3″ in the last 24 hours, although there was much more than that to be found out in the trees after this week’s tempest. We picked up a bit of fresh snow today and it looks like there is even more in the forecast tonight and later this week. We…
