This included just shy of 4″ of water content helping to not only bolster our base but improve the long term snowpack average and subsequent water runoff in the spring. The first wave of storms this week delivered 18″ in 48 hours. This included 14″ in the last 24 hours. Today was a special day. If you were here, I hope you enjoyed it. It looks like we could see a few more memorable days coming up soon.
Mirkwood is now open and the skiing is steep and deep! Mirkwood Bowl, Trees, Orcs, Staircase, Lodgeview and Southbound opened today. With more snow in the forecast, conditions will only get better from here. Get your hike on and we’ll see you at the top.
The Park Crew has worked hard to get a bunch of features open in our advanced park, Steel City. Boxes, rails, kinks and hits are now just a few freestyle features in the park. Easy. Style. It.
While the wind yesterday presented some operational challenges, it also set up some really nice conditions on several trails. Overnight weather brought strong winds out of the west and southwest (the windward side). It’s always darkest before the dawn. Today is the shortest day of the year and the official first day of winter. Tis’ the season.
Patrol was able to open B’s Bash along with both Upper and Lower Hall’s Alley. Bit by bit we are getting all our trails in the mix. There are just a handful of lift served trails yet to work on. Look for a few more to open by next weekend.
We opened the Breezeway lift today along with some buffed out groomers and powder stashes. Little Mo and Ramble On are groomed to perfection.
