February Finale

We made it through the month! February helped to turn the page on the drier conditions we had seen earlier in the season. The month delivered just under 1/3 of our total snowfall for the season with 48″ reported in February. In forty-five years of snowfall history, we have averaged 54″ for the month of February. The highest monthly total fell in 1993 with 128″. There have only been three times in this span where we have seen over 100″ in February (2008 & 2014 were the other two). The worst February on record was during the extremely dry season of 1976-77 with just a meager 23″ of snowfall for the month. We are still making up for the slow start to winter with the Arkansas River Basin just below average for the season. Here’s to a snowy spring!
