Our Lift Maintenance crew has recently put the final touches on the Tumbelina counterweight enclosure. I posted last year about the major upgrades made to the Tumbelina Lift. In this post, you can see the exposed counterweight in this location. Our goal with this project was to eliminate the need to back-drag the lodge side of the counterweight with a…
Here is a look at the mountain and Monarch Ridge from the Snowburn trail. The crew was able to add some Panorama trails to those that have been track packed this week. All in all we have around twenty trails packed and prepped for the next storm cycle. Most of our terrain continues to hold snow with the cold temps…
I toured around near the end of the day to check out the backside trails. The Slope Maintenance crew has been conducting additional track-packing on the mountain over the last few days. Several of our trails on the backside of the mountain have now been track packed and prepped for the season including Upper Tango, Romp, Roundabout, Toddler, Sidewinder, Drifter,…
We picked up an additional five inches of snow during Wednesday night’s quick moving storm. We are getting there bit by bit. Each one of these snowfall events is helping to slowly build our base. While much of the mountain is now completely snow covered, we still need one or two more decent storm events to open. This time of…
With the most recent storm, we have been able to get a few snowcats out for some track packing on the mountain. This operation helps to consolidate our basal snow layers while creating a textured surface that future snowfall can better adhere to. Over the last few days, the crew has covered most of our frontside terrain along with reaching…
We picked up another seven inches of snow during the day. There were a couple of inches early in the morning and then several bands of intense snow during the afternoon. The crew worked on harvesting efforts and then was able to get some cats on the hill to blade these piles out. One more step.
Here is a photo of the mountain that I took on Friday after last week’s snowfall. After the warm weather over the weekend, the snow covered slopes are getting thin but holding on. Fortunately, it looks like some additional snowfall is on the way later this week. The calendar hits November tomorrow…time to start lining up some storms.
I was able to get out on the mountain for a little ski tour yesterday afternoon. Actually, it was more of a winter walk with just a 10″ settled base right now. There was enough snow coverage to skin up on skis and check out the initial coverage around the mountain, but definitely not adequate for slashing turns (although a…
The mountain has started to take on a different look after the first winter storm. It appears that we have some more snow on the way this week and next. Let’s go.
