The rain/snow line from this past storm cycle was just too high to bring snow to Monarch.  This picture from the Crest shows how snow stuck to Bald Mountain (12,856′) and Mount Aetna (13,752′) but didn’t quite make it down to the top of Mirkwood (11,952′).  It would have been exciting to see snow at Monarch, but in reality, it is good that the snow is holding off and we just got a good soaking.  We still have lot’s of prep work for the season and once it starts snowing, we don’t want it to stop!  The combination of snowcapped peaks and beautiful aspens are one of Colorado’s top treasures.
