Sorting Dirt

With the Paradise Parking Expansion going full bore, the current task on hand is sorting all the fill we are creating as we need different materials for different parts of the project.  The fine, clean fill will be used for compaction around culverts as well as for making a smooth and compacted final surface grade.  1-2″ rock will be compacted under the toe of slope and around French drains to help drainage and prevent a buildup of Hydro-static pressure.  The 4-8″ rock will be used to fill the Gabion Baskets that make up the toe of slope retaining wall and finally the largest rocks will be used to armor the slopes to prevent future erosion.  This big shaker from Lowry Contracting is making quick work of all the piles and is impressive to see in action.
