Pano Landing

The timber from the trail development in No Name Basin is making its way down the mountain.  This is a multi-step process that our team from VM West is conducting with great efficiency and skill.  The process begins with the Ponsse harvester machines felling and processing the timber within the trail corridors.  This timber is stacked in mini bunks along the trail edges as progress is made down the slope.  The Ponsse forwarder machines then come behind and load these bunks into their racks.  The forwarder then makes its way back up to the ridgeline using their integrated winch cable to assist in reaching the Divide.  From there, an un-tracked forwarder with pneumatic tires once again loads the timber into its racks and navigates our on-mountain roads down to the Pano Landing.  Timber is decked in this location until the logging trucks arrive to load and haul the timber down to markets in the valleys below.  Much of this wood is currently being sold as firewood to individuals.  If interested in this firewood opportunity, visit the VM West website or call 970-852-9852 for more information.
