In 2016, WAPA came through with a saw crew and cleared out their right-of-way underneath the 230kV powerline that crosses through the SW portion of the ski area. (For more info on the powerline, check out this blog post from 2018.) Since that time, this area does seem to get a fair amount of skier traffic in search of a wide open powder stash. In addition to the clearing work directly under the powerline, we conducted a significant amount of thinning adjacent to this area in July removing hundreds of dead trees. With all of this improved skiing opportunity, we decided to go ahead and make it official with a newly named trail…Powderline!
