A crew contracted by XCEL Energy has been working to replace thirty power poles along the powerline that supplies the historic town of Whitepine, CO. This powerline runs alongside the Waterdog Lakes trail and crosses the Continental Divide near the apex of our Cat Skiing terrain. The crews have been based out of our upper parking lot for staging materials along with the recent flight operations and utilized our summer maintenance road for several weeks to reach the Continental Divide Trail. The crew spent a significant amount of time hiking out to stage materials in the field and dig holes (by hand!) for the replacement project. There has been a lot of activity with this crew and their project which compounded an already busy summer here at the mountain. All the poles have been replaced and this crew is moving on. Whew.
