Moving Dirt

We have been seeing some massive progress the past couple of weeks on our Paradise parking expansion as every day we are seeing massive amounts of dirt being moved from the cut to fill areas.  As with most big projects, the first steps take the longest.  For those who have been following along the full process through planning, approval, timber ops, erosion control measures, rock crushing and sorting, gabion wall construction, and rock blasting, it is great to see how fast everything is coming together.  We have 2 dump trucks moving up to 40 tons per load with loaders and bulldozers keeping them constantly moving 7 days/week.  Once they dump their loads the grader and roller compactor operators are smoothing it all out and compacting the soil in lifts and armoring the slope with rocks so all the dirt stays where we put it.   Another couple of weeks and we will be able to put this project to bed and be ready for all the great tailgating that will be taking place up there this winter.
